Day 1 ODENSE
Stay at a centrally located city-hotel in
walking distance to all major sights. Visit the house of the fairy-tale
writer Hans Christian Andersen and the open-air museum, Den Fynske Landsby,
showing centuries of peasant life.
Day 2 ODENSE -
FAABORG - 30
miles
Bike South and West to Faaborg, a charming
provincial town. Stay at a small hotel in the outskirts of the town. A
stroll in the cobbled street and a visit to the art museum Faaborg Museum
are a must. There are excellent beaches on both sides of the town.
Dinner.
Day 3 FAABORG -
SVENDBORG - 20 miles
A great day of bicycling. Catch the ferry
to Søby on the lovely island Ærø. Bike along the beaches to the main town
Ærøskøbing. Spend the day there walking in a unspoiled idyll or explore
the bicycle friendly island on your own. Take the ferry to Svendborg,
another well-kept provincial town with a busy harbor of ferries and
veteran sailing ships. After dinner we recommend a small excursion either
by bike or ferry to the village Troense, one of the most well-preserved
villages in the country. Dinner.
Day 4 SVENDBORG -
NYBORG - 30 miles
Follow the East coast to Nyborg, passing manor
houses, castles and even more wide sandy beaches. The landscape offers
soft undulating hills with many grand views over the sea and surrounding
fruit plantations. Stay at a seaside hotel just outside Nyborg. Dinner.
Day 5 NYBORG - ODENSE -
26 miles
Return to Odense via Kerteminde, a busy
fishing town with atmosphere and a famous Viking ship burial site. The
route follows the Hindsholm peninsular and the Odense Fjord all the way
into town.
Day 6 ODENSE
Departure after breakfast.
