DAY 1 STOCKHOLM - MARIEFRED
Morning departure by steam boat to Mariefred. It is a beautiful 3.5 hour
cruise on the original S/S Mariefred built in 1903. Arrive in Mariefred and
check in at Gripsholm Inn and Hotel, Sweden’s oldest country inn. In the heart
of the idyllic little town of Mariefred is a church, a castle and an inn, all
dating from the Middle Ages. The inn is built on the site of the old Carthusian
monastery. Explore Mariefred with buildings from the 18th century.

DAY 2 MARIEFRED - STOCKHOLM
Gripsholm Castle,
rebuilt by King Gustav Vasa in the 16th century, is right next to the
Inn. The castle with its history, portraits and decor shows Swedish history in a
unique way. The Castle is open daily May-Aug. Return to Stockholm, partly by
vintage steam train.
